Biography

Dani joined the family business, T Saveker Ltd in 1994 to carry out a design project, became Production Director in 2001, Managing Director in February 2002 and CEO in May 2003. The company was unable to weather the recession of 2009 and was voluntarily placed in administration on 10th March 2009 putting an end to its 106 years of trading. Following this, Dani chose to launch her career as a ‘critical friend’ with the aim of using her experiences to work with other executives and business leaders.

She graduated from Teesside University with a BA Hons in Product Design & Marketing and joined Savekers soon after on a temporary contract – and only left after assisting insolvency practioners to secure a sale of the business following administration. Dani has worked in every job in the company, from the shop floor to customer services and sales, learning the skills and aptitude necessary for each role, including welding and polishing. She led Savekers through an MBO (valued at £2.4M), restructured the factory and Board of Directors, made some of the Board ( her family members) redundant, directed it through the acquisition of West Bromwich-based company Pride in Design – which specifically added the Cantel range of retail products to Savekers’ portfolio – and the acquisition of TTC Limited of Nottingham.

Through her proactive approach to business, growing Savekers and developing its customer service and manufacturing capabilities, Dani has herself grown a reputation for entrepreneurship. As a consequence she has been nominated for several business awards, including being a finalist in:

  • Midlands Businesswoman of the Year 2003
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2004
  • Institute of Directors Young Director of the Year 2004 and 2007
  • 2007 design of ‘Rapic’ Counters awarded bronze medal at the Shopfitting & Display Industry Awards
  • Institute of Directors Emerging Leader of the Year 2008.

Dani was one of the invited speakers at a ‘meet the entrepreneur’ session at the inaugural Open04 conference in Birmingham and has continued to support and act as ‘mentor’ for Metskill, the organisation tasked with raising awareness of the career opportunities available within the UK’s metal industries.

In mid 2008 Dani joined the campaign to support manufacturing in the UK through British Manufacturing for Quality. In December 2008 she was guest keynote speaker at the Coutts Family Business Forum. Dani also contributes regularly and featured in articles for Insider magazine, the Birmingham Post and several business-to-business titles across the retail and manufacturing industries, as well as discussing business matters for the BBC.

Dani ensured Savekers Ltd also supported the local children’s hospice Acorns throughout her leadership. “I was extremely privileged to work with some amazing staff at the hospice and spend some time at their Walsall centre.”

Dani’s main focus in this new chapter of her career and life is to become a trusted partnr to businesses and executives and ensure that they meet their potential by developing their strengths both personally and professionally.
